In the early days of my shooting, 2017, I would roam the city, finding places I’d never been before. At that time, Paristown Point was nowhere near as developed and reconstructed as it is now. Beside an abandoned building, I found, exactly as you see it, this scene, a doll tucked in to the makeshift bed of an old couch. It is the first photograph I ever showed in a gallery—two galleries, actually: First Light Gallery, no longer in existence, and PYRO Gallery. It still hangs in my kitchen. It strikes me as very unusual, and at first I referred to it as “street photography” (the theme of the show at First Light). Notably, not only has the doll long since disappeared, the building has, as well.
